The CBD RAW oil originates from so-called CO2 extraction. This is a process where no solvent or heat is used. This method is not only used when extracting CBD, but is used to extract other required substances from plant material, such as oil extracted from plants and seeds. CO2 extraction is a very common method used for obtaining the CBD from the hemp plant.
A very big advantage of the CO2 extraction is that no heating of the oil or components takes place, so that enzymes and vitamins that are sensitive to heat are not lost. All the ingredients of the hemp plant are preserved and because of this there is not only cannabidiol in the CBD RAW Oil, but also other cannabinoids, such as CBD-a, CBC, CBN, CBV, CBG and others. In addition, the terpenes, pigments and phonoles that contribute to the composition of the RAW CBD oil are also retained. As a result, RAW CBD has a complete or full spectrum as we call it.
We distinguish between full spectrum and Raw CBD, Raw CBD is completely unprocessed (and also full spectrum), our range full spectrum CBD has a full spectrum, but is processed to get rid of the plant remains.
By pressing and filtering the plant material under very cold conditions, more natural and essential plant-own substances are preserved. In addition to the well-known CBD, CBD-a remains. This substance is regularly found in RAW CBD oil products. Another difference between pure/organic CBD oil and CBD oil RAW is that the structure is thicker.
As more plant material is left with CBD oil RAW products, the structure is thicker and the oil has a somewhat bitter taste. We sometimes call this oil "sludge".
The Raw version of hemp CBD (CBDa) oil has a higher concentration of plant material, such as phytonutrients, because it is more a complete plant extract. This means that there is a greater potential for plant nutrients such as terpenes, flavonoids and phytosterols. The pure raw version hemp/cbd oil has a very strong, earthy flavor, almost like wheat grass and seaweed.
A disadvantage of CO2 extraction is that it is a very expensive method to extract CBD, but less expensive than with pure and organic CBD oil, because the whole hemp plant is used. In addition, the taste may be sharper and more bitter than with pure and organic CBD oil.
Regular CBD oil is normally recovered by heating the plant material with ethanol. This separates the CBD molecules from the plant material.
